From Reid VanEck
Last weekend the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team returned to Tucson International Raceway for the first time in six years. This weekend the STP World of Outlaws early season West Coast swing heads to Thunderbowl Raceway beginning on Friday, March 15th, which commences a lengthy streak into late July before the series has its next Friday without a scheduled event.
Prior to heading to Tulare, California that also marks the first of five straight weekends of action in ‘The Golden State’, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ shared some thoughts about the most recent event in Arizona and also the two-day show that awaits this weekend.
“We got qualified decent and just missed the dash in Tucson,” commented Dollansky. “We started the A-Main and something ruptured our right front tire on the opening lap and went flat within a half lap. It forced us to the rear of the field where we proceeded to pass some cars but 13th was the best we could get out of it. It was unfortunate to put us behind the eight-ball but we recovered some and are now focused on Tulare.”
In last year’s main event in Tulare the #7 sprinter started sixth. After battling Mother Nature, a muddy racing surface made passing difficult and also resulted in numerous drivers running out of tear-offs. Through it all Dollansky was able to motor up to the runner-up position in the 35-lap feature and is poised for better weather this time around along with finishing one spot higher on the podium.
“Tulare is always a track I enjoy and they work pretty hard to get us a good track there. We’ll continue to work with our Eyecon car here and get ourselves better. I’m looking forward to this coming weekend and getting ahead of some things we’ve been working on.”
