York, PA — (March 18, 2013) — Williams Grove Speedway; perhaps one of the country’s most popular and most recognized names in short track racing will open it’s gates for the first race-night of 2013 season this Friday, March 22nd. The Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania oval will host the ‘410’ and ‘358’ sprint cars on Friday evening; with most, if not all, of the world-renowned ‘Pennsylvania Posse’ expected to be entered for competition. Of those expected to be in the Williams Grove Speedway pit area this Friday, the 2012 ‘Jack Gunn Memorial’ winner, Cory Haas, will be one of the favorites to win the ‘opener.’ Haas, who pilots the Mike Barshinger owned no. 11C ‘410’ sprinter in Central Pennsylvania, is more than ready to begin his 2013 Williams Grove Speedway campaign.
“We’re ready, man.” said Haas about the Williams Grove Speedway opener, “We like The Grove and it’s close to home…a lot of tough cars there each and every Friday night so running well is always a huge confidence booster for our team…Mike Barshinger is a great car owner and we click really well…hopefully we can kick-off our year at The Grove better than we did at Lincoln….just excited to get this winter over with!”
Cory Haas is a four-time ‘358’ sprint car track champion at the Williams Grove Speedway. The York, Pennsylvania native also owns multiple ‘410’ wins at the Mechanicsburg half-mile. Perhaps Haas’ most memorable ‘410’ win at ‘The Grove’ came during the recent 2012 season; when the ‘11C’ team picked up the 20 lap, ‘Jack Gunn Memorial’ finale worth $5,000. Haas plans to be in action each and every Friday night at the Williams Grove Speedway during the 2013 season; ultimately searching for his first career ‘410’ track championship.
The Barshinger ‘11C’ team will enter Williams Grove Speedway eleventh (11th) in the current Speedway Motors/Champion Racing Oil Central PA Sprint Cars Presented by Hoseheads point standings; on the strength of one (1) top-five finish at Lincoln Speedway. This Friday’s Williams Grove Speedway ‘opener’ will also count towards the Central PA standings.
Racing is set to begin at 7:30PM on Friday night, March 22nd at Williams Grove Speedway. For more information, please take the time to visit the official online home of Williams Grove Speedway at www.williamsgrove.com.
