Reno, NV – (March 25, 2013)–When it comes to inspiring stories six-year-old race fan and Washington native Christopher Lindor, who has Spina Bifida, is certainly one of them. Christopher & his family recently had the opportunity to take part in a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada with the Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation for the World of Outlaws/ NASCAR weekend.
From a recent Shawn Miller Press Release: “Christopher’s spinal cord didn’t close all the way when he was in the womb,” said his mother, Amy. “He is on a ventilator to breathe. Many of his problems he had because of his birth defect were problems with his brain stem, so he can’t swallow or breathe very well on his own. But his intelligence is completely unaffected. He’s as sharp as a little tack.”
To say that Christopher is a racing fan is about as obvious of a statement as the sun is bright. There are countless stories of his knowledge and passion toward the sport, including last year when he cried “hysterically” throughout an entire church service because the Daytona 500 was in a rain delay.
Not only does he know who NASCAR star Tony Stewart is, Christopher can name his two World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers. His favorite sprint car driver is five-time and defending series champion Donny Schatz – one of the stars of the Tony Stewart Racing stable.”
While on way to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation in early March, young Christopher & his family stopped in and were hosted by the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. King of the West Sprint Car Series Managing Director Dan Simpson also had the series’ show car placed inside the hotel with Christopher’s name on the car to surprise the group upon arrival.
“We definitely want to thank everyone at the Grand Sierra Resort for being gracious hosts to Christopher Lindor & his family during their recent stay at the hotel,” Simpson commented. “Christopher and his family are a great group of people and we certainly hope he had the trip of a lifetime with the Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation to Las Vegas. We had a great time meeting them all and were happy to host them.”
The mission of the Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation is to provide Motorsports trips and racing opportunities for Kids battling life threatening conditions and illnesses. The man behind the foundation is 38-year-old Al Tschider, a Washington native known as “Big Al.”
“I want to give a big thanks to the Grand Sierra Resort, Dan Simpson and the King of the West Series for playing host to Christopher and his family in Reno,” Big Al said. “The Lindor’s had a great trip all around and it was awesome to see all the support we received for the Big Al Kids & Motorsports Foundation trip. It shows there are some really great people in the world and everyone during the trip was so nice it made for an amazing time.”
