“I can thank Steve Voight and his entire team for the opportunity this weekend,” he said. “We had a great car and had some great finishes.”

Kicking the three race series off at the Maryborough Speedway on Friday night, Madsen got off to a slow start after timing in fourth fastest.

Starting seventh in his heat, the Syndey, NSW driver scored a seventh place finish, but was good enough to make the feature, where he rolled off in the sixth spot.

When the race went green, Madsen worked in the fifth spot for the opening 10-laps before surging to the third spot, as he chased after David Murcott and Shane Stewart.

After the leaders tangled on the 15th lap, and Stewart pulled in on the 17th lap, Madsen took the lead, and never looked back.

Leading the rest of the race, Madsen was appreciative and thankful for his opportunity in victory lane.

“I cannot thank this Voight team enough for the opportunity,” he said. “We had a great car on Friday night and it was nice to pick up a win.”

Heading to Brisbane on Saturday night, Madsen and his team were looking to keep their speed and pick up another top finish.

Again timing in fourth fastest, Madsen looked to have a better heat race, and did as he went from seventh to third, and eighth to third, putting him in the dash, where he ran second.

Slipping back to the fifth spot after a poor start, Madsen worked up into the fourth spot, and then took over third once Shane Stewart fell out of the race.

With a late restart with just five to go, Madsen made a nice move and took over the second spot, and couldn’t get to race leader, and eventual winner, Robbie Farr in time, and settled for second.

“Farr was good,” he said. “We fell back at the start, and that hurt us he said, but to come out of here with a second is awesome.”

With Sunday night’s event at the Charlton Speedway being rained out, Madsen was named the winner of the shootout, and took home the Crispy Memorial trophy for his efforts.

“It’s awesome to win this deal,” he said. “I am happy to do so for the Voight Family, and hopefully we can take home the Sydney Speedway title in a couple weeks.”

Madsen would like to thank Watson’s Express Transport, Australia Wide Towing, Lucas Oil, EJF Engineering, Mike Hughes & Partners, City Access Scaffolding, Blackshaw’s Motor Body Repairs, ButlerBuilt, and Factory Kahne Shocks for their continued support.
