Opting to bolt in their 360ci engine for the weekend, DJ Netto and his Netto Racing took to the Ocean Speedway and Kings Speedway over the weekend, and showed good speed.
“We had a couple of wrecks during both night’s of action, but it was good to be competitive and gain some confidence,” Netto said.
Taking to the Ocean Speedway on Friday night, Netto proceeded to time his Netto Agriculture/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts No.88N in with the 10th fastest lap of the night in time trials.
Starting on the front row of his heat, Netto beat Nick Rescino off of turn four to grab the lead, and the young charger wouldn’t look back.
Picking up the heat win, Netto would then put his Vade Pol Enterprises/BR Motorsports entry in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature.
Netto was strong in the feature as he quickly worked his way forward, and found himself in the second spot by the 13th lap.
Chasing down Andy Forsberg, Netto missed his line trying to get by a slower car and jumped over the cushion. In doing so, his car bicycled, and flipped, and his night was over.
“We were fast, and I was hoping we had something for the win towards the end of the race, but I made a mistake and turned over.”
Saturday night saw Netto return to the Kings Speedway as the 2013 Rebel Cup Series kicked off, the series Netto was the champion of last year.
Qualifications again saw Netto time in 10th fastest, which put him in the second row of his heat race.
At the midway point in his heat, Netto had a tire go down, and brought out the caution.
Fixing a tire, he restarted at the rear of the field. As luck would have it, the car in front of him checked up a bit getting into the corner, and Netto caught his wheel and flipped.
Done for the heat, Netto and his team would make repairs to his machine, and get him ready for the feature event, where he started dead last.
On a very heavy, and fast race track, Netto showed why he is the defending series champion, as he worked his way up to a seventh place finish, when the checkered flag waved.
“Overall it was a really fun weekend,” he said. “It’s been nice running with the Outlaws, but it was really nice to take what we’ve learned racing with them, and apply it to what we will be doing on a weekly basis.”
DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, Van de Pol Enterprises, and BR Motorsports for their support in 2013.
2013 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-9, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-1
ON TAP: DJ and his Netto Motorsports team will return to the Kings Speedway on Friday night to take on the World of Outlaws, before heading to the Thunderbowl Speedway on Saturday night for another night of Rebel Cup Series action.
