With the World of Outlaws six-week west coast swing coming to a close over the weekend, Tim Kaeding ended it on a bright note as he finished in the second spot on Saturday night, one night after losing a right-rear tire while running in the top-five.
With a light car count on hand at the Perris Auto Speedway, TK, timed his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No.83 machine in with the eight fastest lap during qualifications, on what was a very sticky, and fast Perris Auto Speedway.
Starting on the front row of his heat alongside, Sammy Swindell, TK grabbed the lead, and set sail on the field, as he won, and put his Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels backed entry into the night’s dash.
Starting on the pole of the dash, Kaeding lost the drag race into turn one to Donny Schatz, and ran in the second spot.
With passing really coming at a premium all night, TK held the second spot, and put his Brown and Miller/Kent Performance/Kaeding Performance machine on the front row of the 30-lap feature.
Starting alongside reigning World of Outlaw Champion, Donny Schatz, TK took advantage of the outside starting spot, and grabbed the lead.
On the lightening fast track, TK ripped off laps at a torrid pace as he was the leader for the first 18 markers.
On the 18th lap, TK got pressure from Daryn Pittman, and lost the lead. Not happy with second, TK stalked Pittman for the final 12-laps, but would not be able to get back by, and settled for second.
“The track was wicked fast all night,” TK said. “We put ourselves in a great position all night, but we just came up short on getting Dennis and Teresa Roth another win at home before we hit the road.”
Friday night, Kaeding and his Roth Motorsports team were at the Kings Speedway, a track TK has had tremendous success at in the past, including a World of Outlaw win in 2003.
With 27 cars on hand, TK started the night off by putting down the sixth fastest lap in time trials putting him in the third heat.
Starting inside second row, TK got under Jason Sides, and went on to pick up the heat race win, and put his machine in the dash, where he started on the front row.
Getting the win over Steve Kinser, TK would lead the field to green for the feature event, on what was a very slick track.
In what was an entertaining opening 10-laps, TK and Schatz would exchange the lead five times, as the racetrack was in prime racing condition.
In the Second spot, TK stayed glue to Schatz until trouble struck on the 20th lap.
Having a tired go down around the 18th lap, TK began to slip back through the field, until the tire let go, and he spun out.
Putting on fresh rubber, TK was able to rebound, and charge back to a 13th place finish.
“We had an awesome car on Friday, and I can’t thank this Roth Motorsports team for that,” he said. “We had a great race with Donny Schatz early, unfortunately we had a tire go down, and we spun out.”
Tim and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
