– With bad luck seeming to follow him to the Placerville Speedway, Rico Abreu looked to capitalize off his first finish at the speedway three weeks ago, and end Saturday night with an even better finish, and that he did as he overcame early issues and scored a fourth place finish.

The night got off to a decent start for the Rutherford, CA driver as he timed his Abreu Vineyards/ButlerBuilt/FK Rod Ends machine in 10th quick on the tight, ¼ mile track.

Starting on the front row of his heat, Abreu took advantage and picked up the much needed win to put him in the night’s dash, which sets the top eight feature starting positions.

Ending up with the six pill, Abreu struggled a touch in the dash, and wasn’t able to gain any spots, as a seventh place finish put him in the fourth row for the 30-lap feature.

As his luck at the track would have it, Abreu spun around on the opening lap, and forfeited his top-10 starting spot, and lined up in the 21st spot.

The jam-packed crowd would then be in for a treat, as the fearless youngster, went to the tip-top of the track and quickly worked at making up his lost ground.

In just four laps, Abreu had worked his way back inside the top ten as the caution waved on the fourth lap for a three car pile up.

Getting up into the seventh spot on the restart, Abreu stayed committed to the top as he got past Jonathan Allard, and then began battling with Jason Statler.

Getting into the fourth spot as the white flag flew, Abreu attempted to make a pass on Statler, though his pass didn’t clear, and contact with Statler allowed Tommy Tarlton to sneak by for third, and Abreu settled for fourth.

“We were great in the feature, and had a great car to get back through the field,” Abreu said. “On the last lap I tried to slide Jason Statler, and I wasn’t clear and took him out. I’m not out here to wreck people, and I want him to know I am sorry.”

Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, Abreu returned to action following his third place finish one week ago.

Getting off to a slow start, Abreu timed in 12th fastest, putting him behind the eight ball for the rest of the night.

Starting in the second row of his heat, Abreu would score a third place finish, and found himself starting in the 10th spot for the feature event.

On a very locked down, and fast track, Abreu would tally a sixth place finish.

“I love racing, and Chico is normally fun, but it is not much fun to race on a track that forces you to pull over 30 tearoffs,” he said. “Hopefully we have a little better track during the ‘Bradway’ next week.”

Rico and his team would like to thank Abreu Vineyards, ButlerBuilt, FK Rod Ends, Schoenfeld, Keith Kunz Motorsports, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, and Factory Kahne Shocks for their support.
