A week after engine issues plagued him at the Placerville Speedway, DJ Netto and his Netto Racing team were back in action this past weekend however, it was at a 360ci race in Watsonville, CA with their 410 engines being check out.
“We opted to get our 410’s checked out, so we took our 360, and went to the Ocean Speedway on Friday night,” Netto said.
A very competitive 360 weekly series, Netto made the most of his draw, as he was the last car out during qualifications, and timed in seventh fastest, putting him on the front row of his heat.
Taking full advantage of his front row starting spot, Netto took the early lead, and never looked back, as he won the heat going away, and put his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts entry in the feature event.
With the ‘0’ pill being drawn for the feature event invert, Netto would line his No. 88N machine up in the fourth row of the 30-lap feature.
Jumping into the top-five, Netto would have his hands full for the final 20-laps of the feature, as he worked around the ¼ mile track with no brakes.
“We lost brakes on lap-10, and that made it tough because the track was right on the bottom,” he said.
Doing what he could to hang on, Netto held his own, and ended up finishing in the sixth spot.
“I think we had a better car then our results show for sure,” Netto said. “The brake issues was huge, and made it tough, but I’ll take the sixth and look forward.”
DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2013.
