CAMERON, Mo. (May 8, 2013) – The environment in Victory Lane at the inaugural US 36 Nationals Presented by RacinBoys last year was as electric as the action on the high-banked track.ascs lucas oil national tour 2012 logo tease

Following Jason Johnson’s thrilling late-race slide job for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour victory at U.S. 36 Raceway last July, the celebration was interrupted by an argument about driving styles. Expect to see similar passion on and off the track during the 2nd annual US 36 Nationals Presented by RacinBoys on Friday, May 17, which now kicks off the TBJ Promotions schedule.

“Last year we had some nice fireworks in Victory Lane,” TBJ Promotions Founder Tony Bruce Jr. said. “Any time you have a good race track that produces good racing like that, tempers flare. It’s exciting for the fans to see the drivers give it all on the track and as far as emotions, to give it all after the race.”

After starting ninth in last season’s 30-lap feature, Johnson was up to sixth place just beyond the halfway point. He advanced to third on Lap 20 and slid Wayne Johnson for the runner-up position on the ensuing lap. Jason Johnson then roared around Seth Bergman, who led the first 21 laps, to capture the lead exiting turn four on Lap 22 en route to the victory.

“I remember Wayne Johnson was a bit upset in Victory Lane with the pass we made for the victory,” he said, citing the postrace verbal confrontation.

The wheel-to-wheel racing was overshadowed by the antics after the checkered flag.

“I remember it’s a great little venue,” Johnson said. “It’s high banked and it’s real racy. That’s probably the best part from a driver’s standpoint. You could race around the bottom and the top. I remember it produced some big slide jobs, so that was a lot of fun.”

Bruce Jr., who co-promoted the event with Scott Traylor of RacinBoys, claimed the B Main and charged from 17th to eighth in the wild feature.

“Obviously we want to continue to make this an annual deal,” he said. “I love that race track and the support the fans give it. It’s a driver’s race track. You have to get after it there. That’s probably why the fans like it. You can’t ride at that race track. You have to go all out every lap.”

Traylor has been on all sides of the sport, from racing, promoting, announcing and watching as a fan.

“I think rivalries are probably the most important thing in motor sports,’ he said. “We need fans and we need competitors. But the things that drive the fans to the grandstands are storylines like we had last year at the US 36 Nationals Presented by RacinBoys.”
