ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa.  (May 13, 2013) – The World of Outlaws event on the 3/8-mile Lincoln Speedway Wednesday, May 15 marks the beginning of one of Joey Saldana’s favorite weeks. A week filled with races.  There are four STP Sprint Car Series races in five days.

“I love driving the Motter Equipment Fatheadz Eyewear 71M race car,” said Saldana.  “We’re heading into tracks with a lot of racing history and a big fan base and we’re looking forward to getting some good nights of racing under our belts and giving the fans a great show.

“I am looking forward to launching the week’s series at The Gettysburg Clash at Lincoln Speedway even though I haven’t raced there much.  We will have to figure out a good set-up during hot laps and hope it is a springboard for a good qualifying run.  Pennsylvania has been a hotbed of sprint car racing for decades and it’s exciting to race back East.”

Indeed Lincoln Speedway is celebrating its 60th year of professional auto racing.

Only a few of the current World of Outlaws competitors have a lot of experience at this high-banked clay oval.  The Outlaws staged events here from l978 to 1998, and then there was a break in STP Sprint Car Series racing at Lincoln until last year.

So far this season, the Motter Motorsports team has three quick times, two track records, two runner-up finishes in A-Main events and five top five finishes.  They are currently fourth in World of Outlaws point standings, hovering between second and fourth for the past 15 races.

“We are just on the cusp of a victory,” said team owner Motter. “We have been very close and I think if we can just get that first win, then the others will follow.”
