Right now DJ Netto is thinking that if it weren’t for bad luck, he would not have any luck at all, as a faulty oil line sidelined him Friday night at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.
“If we could get some good luck on our side, we would be okay, but right now nothing seems to want to go our way,” Netto said.
At the ultra competitive Ocean Speedway racing with the Taco Bravo Series, Netto opened the night up by timing his Netto Ag/Penny Newman Grain/Bogies Auto Parts machine in eighth fastest.
In his heat race, the Hanford, CA driver got his elbows up and raced his way to a second place finish, putting him in the feature event, where he would start in the seventh spot.
“As the night got going, I felt pretty good about everything,” he said. “We had put a new car together, and it was working well, and we were pretty fast from hot laps through the heat, so I had some confidence heading into the 30-lap feature.”
Starting in the fourth row, Netto had a strong start, as he worked his way into the fifth spot, where he raced with Bud Kaeding for a few laps as they battled for the fourth spot.
With just six laps remaining, Kaeding got past Netto, and Netto ran in the fifth spot, until an oil line blew, and his night was over.
“We were having a really good night, and then we lost an oil line right after Bud Kaeding got us,” he said. “Aside from that it was fun to battle with Bud (Kaeding), and a few other guys. Our luck has to get better soon, and we will just ride this out until it passes.”
