Lance Dewease and his Heffner Racing team continue to come alive and show some serious speed as Dewease scored a fourth place finish at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night before charging from 14th to second at Port Royal.
“We have been good the last few weeks, and I am really looking forward to getting into PA Speedweek,” Dewease said. “We are starting to come together, and racing every night will helps us.”
Friday night at the Williams Grove Speedway, Dewease rolled off for the 25 lap feature event in the eight position.
When the race went green, Dewease found the bottom of the speedway to his liking as he moved into the top five at the half way point of the race.
Up into the fifth spot, Dewease chased after Stevie Smith, Bob Bennett, Brent Marks and Greg Hodnet for the final seven laps.
With the race having so cautions, Dewease was able to sneak into the fourth spot when the checkered flag fell.
Saturday night, Dewease and his Lelands.com/Conduit Connections/Pasquirello’s Auto Shop team were at Port Royal, looking to continue their string of top finishes.
Starting in the 14th spot at Port, Dewease used his veteran savvy to work his way through traffic as he narrowly missed a five car pile up very early in the feature.
Once inside the top-10, Dewease began taking positions at will as he set his sights on Chad Layton, and Blaine Heimbach.
With 10 to go, Layton blew a right-rear tire bring out the caution, and Dewease would restart in the third spot.
Lining up behind Nate Synder, Dewease would get around him when action resumed, and chased after Heimbach, but Heimbach was too good, and Dewease settled for second.
“We had a very good car on Saturday, but Blaine Heimbach was a little better than us. We were able to keep our nose clean and come from 14th, so we will take that, and head to speedweek.
