Atlanta, GA – June 25, 2013 – The United Sprint Car Series (USCS) presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars Outlaw Thunder Tour invade Crowley’s Ridge Raceway on Wednesday night July 3rd as headliners of the speedway’s 2nd annual “Rumble at the Ridge”. The event serves as round three of a four race sprint car quadruple-header scheduled over the 2013 Independence Day holiday USCS Super Dirt Week.
The holiday week special event is expected to bring top winged Outlaw style sprint car drivers from at least six states to the ¼ mile clay oval track located between Paragould and Jonesboro, Arkansas on Highway 351. The USCS winged sprint car race will award USCS National Championship points as well as USCS Mid-South Thunder regional series Championship points. The USCS Mid-South Thunder regional series primarily consists of races in Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri and West Tennessee
Drivers expected to compete include several who have been honored by National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Driver of the Year poll. The ten-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray headlines the entry list. The 2012 USCS National Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who has won over fifty USCS main events over the last five seasons including the 2012 and inaugural Rumble at the Ridge at Crowley’s Ridge Raceway is entered. Also entered is Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas who leads the series during the 2013 season win totals with six visits to the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane.
Additionally, the 2010 USCS Rookie of the Year 20 year-old female sprint car hot shoe, Morgan Turpen will also be in the field. Turpen, who has won three times during USCS competition, is in 4th place in the current National standings.
An action packed USCS presented by K&N Filters sprint car racing program will include test and tune hot laps followed by the evening’s first sprint car race, the Hoosier Tire USCS Speed Dash that showcases the top six cars from the previous USCS main event in an edge-of-your-seat six-car shootout. The dash will be followed by a series of qualifying heat races and a Last Chance/B-Main race(s). The evening’s grand finale will be the 30-lap USCS sprint car A-main event.
Also featured on the special mid week Wednesday night holiday week racing program are the mighty open wheel modifieds of the K&N Filters USCS Modified Touring Series racing for $1000 top prize. The racing card also includes the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints. Additionally the speedway’s popular Limited Late Model division will door-to-door and fender rubbing racing action to the event. All in all after the preliminary qualifying races in each division, there are 100+ laps of Championship main events plus a holiday fireworks celebration.
