The USAC Western Classic Sprint Cars resume their 2013 campaign August 9 in a race also carrying AMSOIL USAC/CRA sanction.
Bud Kaeding of Campbell, Calif. led the final nine laps of Friday night’s “Howard Kaeding Classic” USAC Western Classic Sprint race at Ocean Speedway after passing Dominic Scelzi on lap 22. Scelzi took second at the checkered flag after leading the first 21 laps. D.J. Netto finished third ahead of Tony Hunt and Brent Kaeding. Bud Kaeding piloted the Buster & Ziggy Enterprises/Kaeding Performance Maxim/Reitz.
Johnson emerged from the race with a five-point lead over Ryan Bernal in the new series standings, with former series champion Tony Hunt third, 48 back of the leader.
