Dodge City, KS — (July 17, 2013) — With a successful Boot Hill Showdown logged into the books over Fourth of July weekend, it has already been determined that the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars will return to the Dodge City Raceway Park 3/8-mile clay oval in 2014.

During last week’s action before a full grandstand, World of Outlaws officials and DCRP track manager Tommie Estes, Jr., agreed upon the dates of July 4-5 for the 2014 edition of the Boot Hill Showdown.

Tickets for the 2014 Boot Hill Showdown will go on sale January 1.

Reigning series champion Donny Schatz nipped Jason Sides at the line to win the opening night of this year’s Boot Hill Showdown on Friday night, July 5, then cut a tire in the late going in Saturday’s finale to open the door for current series points leader Daryn Pittman of Owasso, OK, to take the win.

It was the second win at the track for both drivers, though it’s been a while for each.  Schatz’ first win at DCRP came in 2008 while Pittman’s previous Dodge City win came a year earlier in 2007.

The World of Outlaws return in 2014 will mark the 11th consecutive year for the series to battle it out at Dodge City Raceway Park since first taking to the 3/8-mile oval in 2004.

Eight different drivers have reached victory lane in the last eight WoO feature events at Dodge City Raceway Park over the last four years including Pittman, Schatz, Kraig Kinser, Steve Kinser, Jason Sides, Craig Dollansky, Joey Saldana and Sammy Swindell.

Prior to that, Saldana had reeled off three consecutive wins.  Overall, Saldana has five feature wins at DCRP, tops on the list though his last win came in 2010.

Dodge City Raceway Park has seven nights of action remaining on the 2013 slate beginning with this weekend’s Inaugural Dodge City Modified Stampede on Friday and Saturday followed by URSS Sprint Cars next Friday night, July 26, and then non-wing USAC Southwest Sprint Cars next month on August 23-24.

Dodge City Raceway Park is located on the south edge of Dodge City, KS, on US 283, then 0.9 miles west on US 56, then 0.1 miles south.  For more information, contact the track at 620-225-3277 or check www.dodgecityraceway.com.
