From Port Royal Speedway
Port Royal, PA — (July 27, 2013) — Port Royal Speedway was the lone hold out of Central Pa racetracks on Saturday night, making an all-out effort to stage Juniata County Fire and Rescue EMS Night featuring 410 sprints, late models and 305 sprints.
The track escaped rain all day on Saturday and a Life Lion Air Ambulance visited the track as part of the night, touching down in the infield from 5:45 to 6:45 pm while offering tours to fans.
Fire and Ambulance companies from across Juniata and Perry Counties were on hand for the event with firetruck rides ongoing around the grounds prior to the races getting started.
But just as the cars rolled onto the track for motor starts at 6:30 pm, light rain began falling.
Attempts were made to wait out and overcome the rainfall but after a stronger batch of rain hit at 7:45 pm, officials were forced to cancel the program.
The Port Royal raincheck policy can be found at the track website, www. portroyalspeedway.com.
The oval will present the Living Legends Dream Race for sprint cars honoring Todd Shaffer and Patty Beam next week, August 3. The race features a total purse worth nearly $55,000 plus over $10,000 in contingency prizes and cash.
Gates will open at 4:30 pm.
