While many across the country enjoyed the day off observing Labor Day the Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team opened up the month of September on Monday as they prepared for a busy week of seven events in as many days.  First up was Grays Harbor Raceway where Craig Dollansky recorded a runner-up performance last year in the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series first visit to the 3/8-mile since 2008.

With 29 drivers prepared for battle in Elma, Washington, ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ qualified 9th fastest to earn a front row start spot for heat race competition.  Starting outside of Cody Darrah in heat three, the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim battled Darrah in the early stages of the 8-lap race before sealing the top spot for good and cruising to the heat win.  After a six pill inversion draw just edged Dollansky for the dash, the #7 sprinter lined up outside row four and advanced one spot finishing 7th.

In the 30-lap A-Main the MobileStar backed entry ran seventh by an early caution on lap 2 and then developed an issue under the hood dropping back in the pack until another caution by lap 17.  Down on horsepower and running fifteenth before the next yellow eight circuits later, the #7 crew found the problem during an open red on lap 28 but with only a couple laps remaining they were only able to gain one spot finishing 14th.

“We thought we were down a cylinder in the motor taking the green of the feature but found during the open red that it was actually a broken spark plug,” explained Dollansky.  “With only two laps to go it was a little late at that point to make any progress but we’ll learn from it and head to Oregon.”

The Eyecon Trail Cameras #7 team returns to action tonight, September 3rd, at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Oregon.
