Sandusky, OH — (September 8, 2013) — The Adkins Glass Midwest Supermodified Association (MSA) Supermodifieds headlined the 2013 Season Championship Night at Sandusky Speedway Saturday September 7, 2013. The former Supermodified drivers reunion was hosted by Randy Wynne. The Vintage Race Cars were on hand to show the fans the cars and stars of years gone by. There were also custom and classic cars on display in the parking lot from the downtown Sandusky Cruisin’ By The Bay car show. Rain hampered todays event and pushed back the starting time for the evenings races by just over one hour.

The thirty lap MSA feature race saw veteran driver Denny Fisher and A.J. Lesiecki in the front row with the caution flag out immediately when Charlie Schultz went off of turn two and into the wheel fence. The race was red flagged. Jon Henes went pit side as did Todd Buchanan. When the race restarted it was Lesiecki leading before another caution flag this time for Kevin jaycox Jr. who went off of turn three and Jim Paller who spun in turn three, and Trevor Berry who had to readjust his wing. With one lap in the books this restart saw Trent Stephens shoot into the lead followed by Lesiecki, Matt Marlowe, Fisher and Charlie Schultz.

Stephens had opened up nearly a full straight lead before the race reached double digits. At the halfway mark, Stephens had checked out on the field until lap seventeen when Matt Marlowe spun on the backstraight. With Stephens commanding lead now erased, the restart line up would be Stephens, Lesiecki, Fisher, Schultz and Trevor Berry the top five running order.
Stephens wasted no time picking up where he left off, opening up a half straightaway lead over Lesiecki. Schultz would take second and give chase to Stephens as Lesiecki went pit side. Stephens, the defending MSA champion, would go unchallenged to take the checkered flag.

The Modified twenty five lap feature saw Kenny Calhoun and Clay Pope lead the field to the green flag with Pope taking the early lead from the outside pole. Calhoun ran second followed by Joe Shannon, Tyler Shullick and Kenny Sharp. Shannon challenged Pope for the lead on lap five and took command of the lead on lap six. The caution flag was out on lap six when Stephen Klinect had a right front tire go flat. The restart was Shannon, Pope, Shullick, Sharp and Kenny Phillips who debuted a brand new car tonight. The cone was now placed on the front straight with the drivers deciding to take either the inside or outside lane. It was Shannon and Shullick now in the front row. Before a lap could be scored there was a tangle on the backstraight with Pope being charged and sent to the back of the line up.

On the restart it was Shannon and Shullick once again the front row with Shannon getting the lead. Shullick ran second follwed by K.Phillips, Sharp, and Craig Phillips. With eleven laps in, Shannon had a comfortable lead over Shullick as the top five remained unchanged. With five laps to go, Shannon had nearly a half straight lead over Shullick enroute to the checkered flag. Stephen Klinect is the 2013 Sandusky Speedway Modified Champion.

The Street Stock twenty lap feature would have a pair of new drivers making their first appearence at Sandusky Speedway in the front row, Cory Zegincdagh and Bill Johnson. The caution flag was out before the first lap was scored when Zegincdagh and Logan Cooper tangled in turn two with both cars being hooked and taken back to the pit area, out of the race. The restart saw Randy Dawson take the early lead followed by Justin Hamilton, Chris Hamilton, Johnson and Jacob Dukeshire. The caution flag was out on lap two when Macy Fox came to a stop in turn three with her new car overheating. Dawson led the restart followed by C.Hamilton, Dukeshire, Rose and Logan Hamilton before the caution came out on lap four when J. Hamilton stopped in turn four. Dukeshire had a half a car length lead over Dawson on the restart. The caution was out again on lap seven when Rose spun on the front straight. Dukeshire led the restart as C.Hamilton challenged and took the lead on lap seven. Dawson went to the pit area one lap later. C.Hamilton led at the halfway mark followed by Rose, Dukeshire, Johnson, and L.Hamilton. C.Hamilton, the defending Street Stock champion, would hold off Cody Rose for the win. Chris Hamilton is the 2013 Sandusky Speedway Street Stock Champion.

The fifteen lap Hobby Stock feature saw Joey Wyckoff and Brandon Halcomb battle for the lead with Wyckoff getting the early lead. Zack Miller would take command of the lead on lap three followed by Wyckoff, Halcomb, Dan Smith and Kelly Lilie. The race was red flagged on lap five when Dan Smith had a small fire and dropped transmission fluid and oil on the track between turns one and two.

Following the clean up the race resumed with Miller leading and Wyckoff a distant second. Miller continued to lead through the half way mark and would go on to take the checkered flag with a half straightaway lead over Wyckoff. Joey Wyckoff is the 2013 Sandusky Speedway Hobby Stock Champion.
