FREMONT, Ohio (Sept. 23, 2013) – After an unscheduled weekend off, Joey Saldana and the World of Outlaws drivers are planning to return to action Saturday, Sept. 28
at Fremont Speedway.
“Mother Nature knocked out both nights of racing this past weekend, and I’ve got an itchy throttle foot,” said the Brownsburg Bullet, Joey Saldana. “We’re getting down to a little more than a handful of races before the season ends.
“Our Motter Equipment Beltline Body Shop Fatheadz Eyewear team is gaining a lot of consistency recently and we really enjoy getting out there. We feel we are always in contention to be a front runner and that’s a great position to be in. I wish this was the beginning of the season instead of the end.”
The one-third semi-banked Fremont Speedway oval is one of the few dirt tracks that has softwalls. Installed in 2002, Fremont was one of the first dirt track facilities to install these safety enhancements.
This Saturday will mark the sixth time the Outlaws have competed at Fremont. The inaugural event was held in 1990 and racing continued through 1993. There was one WoO event in 2011.
“This will be our last Midwest race of the season,” said the Bullet, “and we hope rain doesn’t come back to haunt us. After this we head East and then we end the season in Charlotte early in November. We’re looking to add another victory or two to our Chico win earlier this month.”
