Gregg Strong at Fall Nationals

PETERSEN MEDIA

Having success at the Silver Dollar Speedway during much of the 2013 season, Andy Gregg made the most of the speedway’s season ending event as he scored second and fourth place finishes at the 21st Annual Fall Nationals.

With 46 cars on hand on Friday night, Gregg timed his Russell Motorsports No. 14R entry in seventh fastest, putting him the third heat.

Taking advantage of his second row starting spot, the Placerville, CA diver was able to power into the second spot, transferring him to the night’s Dash, and Main Event.

Lining up on the front row of the Dash, Gregg powered out to the lead, and never looked back, as he took the win and put his 14R machine on the front row for the feature event.

Starting on the front row with rival, Andy Forsberg, Gregg got the early jump as 2013 Civil War Champion, Sean Becker, chased after him.

Getting into lapped traffic on the lightening fast surface, Becker was able to get past Gregg, but Gregg didn’t let him go easy.

Still mired in heavy traffic, Gregg was able to return the favor and retake the lead, but the yellow flag waived, negating the pass.

On the restart, Becker took off and Gregg chased after, but with just a handful of laps remaining, Gregg settled for the second at the stripe.

“We have been pretty good at the Silver Dollar Speedway this year, and last time we were here during Gold Cup, we ran second, so hopefully Saturday night we can get one spot better.”

Saturday night was a tough night for everyone in action at the speedway as they were greeted with a very slick track early in the night that made any passing tough.

With 51 cars on hand, Gregg timed in sixth fastest, putting him in the first heat race.

In his heat, Gregg again scored a second place finish, putting him in the eight lap dash where a fourth place finish lined him up in the second row for the 30-lap feature event.

On a track that saw all cars use the rubber that was laid down on the bottom of the speedway, Gregg hit his marks for 30-laps and scored a fourth place finish.

“It was a disappointing night with the track conditions,” Gregg said. “Everyone had to deal with them, so luckily we put ourselves in good position, and took advantage of it. I have to thank everyone who helped all three night’s an worked hard.”
