After a week off, DJ Netto was back in action at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA taking on the Ocean Sprints Presented by Taco Bravo, and unfortunately, a late race wreck knocked the Hanford, CA driver out of the fifth spot.
“We put ourselves behind the eight–ball early, but bounced back, and then a little contact ultimately ended our night in the feature,” Netto said.
Timing in 18th quickest, Netto fell victim to contact in his heat race, and was forced to run the B main event.
Charging from seventh to third in the B, Netto transferred to the feature event, where he lined up in the eighth row.
Finding the top of the speedway to his liking, Netto worked his way forward on the meticulously prepared surface, and found himself up in the fifth spot at the halfway point.
Diving to the bottom in turns three and four, Netto got his machine a little sideways, and Brad Furr made contact with him, and with the lack of time in the work area, Netto was unable to make repairs and return.
“We were good in the feature event, I just got off the top to try something, and it bit us,” he said.
DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2013.
