Rochester, NY — (October 3, 2013) — The four-man battle for the 2013 Patriot Sprint Tour America Championship will unfortunately have an anticlimactic ending.

The PST America Championship slated for next Friday at Brewerton Speedway has been cancelled by speedway management and will not be rescheduled.  A replacement event was actively sought by PST Management but at this late juncture was simply not feasible.

“We are certainly saddened by our inability to settle the PST America Championship on the race track, where it belongs,” declared PST Owner Mike Emhof. “October events are always a little touch-and-go but usually that is because of the weather.”

With the cancellation of the Brewerton event, Jared Zimbardi, of Bradford, PA, has been named the 2013 Patriot Sprint Tour America Champion.  Zimbardi was also the series champion in 2011 and joins Bryan Howland and Chuck Hebing as the only repeat Patriot Champions.

“Jared has been and once again is a very worthy champion,” added Emhof.  “He came on strong at the end of the season at tracks of varying sizes and that’s what it takes to claim the title.”

While the 2013 PST America Tour is now complete, the PST Canada Championship is still up for grabs and will be settled Saturday October 19 at Brockville Ontario Speedway.  Steve Poirier currently leads Jason Barney by a mere three points.  Justin Barger and Jamie Collard, the top two in PST Canada points in 2012 are still within striking distance, as is Zimbardi, who could claim $10,000 more if the stars aligned later this month.
