Brisbane, AU — (October 19, 2013) — Brisbane’s #36 David Muir ran a faultless feature race last night in round two of the KRE Race Engines Series at Supercheap Auto Archerfield Speedway. He virtually led the 30 lap final from start to finish and held some of the best in the business at bay. An early caution light was brought on by contact in the first lap between #79 Sauer and the #75 of Jensen, Jensen rejoining at the rear. The first five laps produced some very close racing between #59 Kevin Titman, #58 Peter Lack, #25 Andrew Scheuerle and #7 Robbie Farr, thrilling the crowd, and it only took eight laps for these front runners to catch the tail end of the field.

Another two laps down and the second caution came on when #64 Paul Rooks spun in turn two, Muir’s extended lead reduced on the restart. Ten to go and Farr had clawed his way up to second position after a very close duel with Scheuerle – momentarily delayed in lap traffic. Farr claimed the lead for a few seconds with four laps to go but Muir quickly rebutted, firming his grip. He widened the gap in the closing laps and drove on to meet the checker in a convincing finish.

The Titan Garages and Carports racer said “The track was unreal, John Kelly is one of the hardest working promoters in the sport and the theory he’s got now with packing it down is really providing some great racing for both the drivers and the fans. When you start running up there with the good guys, you know the likes of Farr and the others, they know what they’re dong and they race you clean; the lap traffic was frustrating. We’ve had a second and a third this season and now a win, I’m chuffed.”

The Lucas Oils Dash was electrifying. Lack drew position six then chose Scheuerle to start from five who chose #5 Reidy from fourth and so on #7 Farr then #36 Muir which left Titman off pole (again!). David Muir quickly claimed the lead but with two laps to go, the crowd was on edge as a hard-charging Farr clipped Muir out of turn two. Farr lost momentum and finished sixth but Muir held position to take the Dash win; deciding not to take the Kratzmann challenge he locked his sights on the first win of the season.

The 15 lap East Coast Logistics B-Main was fast-flowing (unlike the heat racing) and saw the top four – #77 Brent Kratzmann, #75 Darren Jensen, #16 Bryan Mann and #28 Allan Woods transfer to the rear of the A-Main.

The heats were eventful to say the least, producing more caution lights per timeframe than a pedestrian crossing. Red light though in heat one, with six to go #23 David Whell spun out in turn four leaving #16 Bryan Mann no options. Mann rolled, landed (resting in a somewhat unique upside-down position) then the car proceeded to catch on fire. He rejoined but DNF’ed that heat; a great effort by the team to win two heats later, make the A-Main and finish seventh on the night. Other heat wins went to Robbie Farr, Peter Lack (2 & 5), #90 Anthony Lambert, Bryan Mann and #5 Danny Reidy with the fastest time of the night being 11.314 seconds clocked by East Coast Pipeline whiz Robbie Farr in time trials.

The Western Landscape Supplies/Davis Grose Real Estate Modlites Feature was won by #46 Dillon Menz who showed good form throughout the night with a first and a third in his heat races. A very consistent #16 Luke Whitehill finished second in all his heats and the Feature, with hard-charging #3 Chris Ruane finishing third. Ruane also set the quickest lap of the night. A special mention to the female racer #Brittany Grose with two heat wins (1 & 3) and #5 Michael Kendall (heat 2 winner) who was looking fast in the feature race until he came together with a fellow competitor, relegating him to a fifth place finish.

The AMCA Nationals were out in force, #Q98 Nathan Durston again took the Feature win; placing first and a second in his heat races. Second on the podium was #21 Lee MacKinnell: who also had a first and a second in his heats. #37 David Ohl rounded out the podium in third and took one of the heat wins on the night, #73 Matt Enders was the other heat winner. All of the above-mentioned put on a stellar drive throughout the entire night.

The Formula 500’s raced fast for Round one of the Tyrepower Super Series; their heat times comparable to the Sprintcars. Highly experienced racer #42 Michael Pronger took maximum points (winning a heat) with #6 Ryan Skennar second (also winning a heat) and #33 Kristin Brown in third. Other heat winner #Q1 Nathan Pronger challenged hard all night but a spin in the Feature with 2 to go saw him rear of field, the end result an eighth place for the Queensland champion.

Compact Speedcars ran for the first time in anger this season and it was #41 Emma Harris who dominated the night and kept the boys at bay, She put in an excellent drive to take a heat win and the Feature. #12 Paul McMannim finished a close second to Harris in the Feature race with heat winner #11 Robert Stewart finishing third.

Grass-roots racers #27 David Tookey, #2 Anthony Paul and #86 Shane Robinson kept the dream alive in the Holden v Ford v Sigma division finishing first, second and third respectively.

There’ll be some fast racing next week with Round 2 of the Polar Ice Midget Series, the Sprintcars will return in a fortnight’s time. V8 Dirt Modifieds are also on the card next week as well as Lightning Sprints, Micro Sprints and the Brisbane Sedans.
