Neverlift Motorsports and David Prickett Racing is saddened to announce that due to impending medical costs, it will be closing its doors following this years Turkey Night Gran Prix. Team owner David Prickett and his wife are expecting their first child due January 2, and last Thursday were notified of a serious heart …defect with the child that will require open heart surgery after birth.
“I have had a blast building this team the last 9 years.” says Prickett. “The relationships that have been built are like no other in this world. Now is a time when I have to do whats best for my family.”
Following Turkey Night, the teams inventory will be put up for sale. 2013 team mate Terry Nichols will drive the#15 Spike/AMS Chevy normally driven by owner Prickett, who will be at his home in Fresno.
“I wish I could finish off the season, but with the circumstances, we need to be here (Fresno), where if the baby comes early, the doctors and surgeons are prepared for us.”
Neverlift Motorsports was founded in 2004 and has had much success in Midgets in California. David Prickett has picked up Championships as a driver in 2009 with the Bay Cities Racing Association and in 2012 as the USAC Western States Dirt Midget Champion. The team has Owners Championships with USAC in 2011 and Dirt Championship in 2012, as well as Bay Cities Racing Association in 2013. The team has 5 feature wins with David Prickett(3), Kody Swanson(1) and Johnathon Henry(1). Other drivers have included Kyle Larson, Wally Pankratz, Connor Kassik, Terry Nichols, Gary Conterno, Scott Pierovich, Greg Bragg, Tyler Smith, Chris Ennis, Bryan Drollinger, Jim Waters, Jesse Frazier and Russ Prickett.
Though the team is selling its inventory, this is not the end of driving for Prickett. Plans are in the works for him to drive a Mini Spint with the BCRA Midget Lites and California Lightning Sprints.
“I am thankful that I will get the oppurtunity to continue driving. Until my baby is home safe though, I cannot commit to any schedule.”
