Closing out his 2013 season, and competing in his final event with Heffner Racing, Lance Dewease turned in a strong performance on Saturday at the Susquehanna Speedway Park, as he worked his way up to a third place finish.
“We really had a good racecar on Saturday, and it was a nice way for us to end our time together,” Dewease said.
Kicking his night off in time trails fro the $10,010 to win race, Dewease laid down a great lap as he timed the Lelands.com/Conduit Connections/Pasquirello’s Auto Shop machine in second fastest.
Lining up fifth in the feature, Dewease got off to a rocky start as he found himself slipping through the field, as he fell back to the eighth spot in the early stages of the race.
Battling with the likes of Greg Hodnett, and Brent Marks, Dewease got his elbows up as he searched around the track looking for a quick line.
Working his way back up in the top five, Dewease wanted more as he began battling with Blaine Heimbach, Logan Schuchart, as they all chased after Derek Sell.
Running in the fourth spot, Dewease made a bold move to get around Heimbach coming to the checkered flag, and took the last spot on the podium, as he closed 2013 with a third place finish.
“It was nice to come out and run well for everybody,” Dewease said. “We’ve been figuring some things out towards the end of the year, and I can’t wait to get to work with the Dietz family, and hopefully continue the progress we have made. I have to thank the Heffner team and all of the sponsors for the opportunity they gave me this year, and I wish them well moving forward.”
