TULSA, Okla. (February 5, 2014) For Washington’s Seth Bergman, change is a welcomed proposition. Looking at ways to move forward, the driver of the Oil Field Equipment and Manufacturing No. 23 saw massive changes to his team during the off-season; the biggest of which coming in team ownership.
“I’ve been driving for Pete Peterson for the past few years. That deal came to an end and now my Dad is half owner along with Dennis Marshala so it’s more of a family deal again with my parents being back involved.”
Asked if the changes has had an impact on the demeanor of the team, Seth replied, “Everybody’s excited because we’re more prepared than we’ve ever been. We have four new cars going together, we have new engines getting done and I feel more ready than I’ve ever been in the past.”
Beyond a run at the 2014 Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real National Championship, Seth sites his main goal is to be more consistent, “I think just working on begin consistent every night. When you’re consistent, you can run up front and not have to worry about winning the championship.”
While every driver wants to race every night, Bergman will use any time off as means to improve his program, “We’ll see what happens in Arizona. After that, we’ll take it back to the shop and assess and utilize that time off. If we can’t be at a racetrack, we’ll definitely be in the shop working on trying to get faster and just build on that.”
Talking with Dennis Marshala, the owner of Oil Field Equipment and Manufacturing, the Oklahoma businessman has a clear goal in mind to have Seth in contention to finish in the top-three come November.
Having fielded multiple cars over the past several years in the ASCS Lone Star and Sooner Region, as well as sponsoring drivers like Patrick Stasa, Brady Bacon, and Ray Allen Kulhanek, Marshala chucked when asked if was going to scale back and focus solely on the National Tour, “I’m trying to convince myself to focus on the National Tour, but I’m not going to have much luck with that since I’m already entering two cars at Cocopah. I’m going to bring one of my No. 11 cars with Joe Wood, Jr. as the driver.”
In 2013, Seth Bergman ended his season seventh in driver standings with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real. His third full season of competition included one victory at the Salina Speedway in Salina, Kan. as well as five regional triumphs.
Overall, Seth holds two National Tour wins and 10 in ASCS Regional competition. Seth Bergman can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
