Nathan Washam Amped For Action Packed 2014 Season

PETERSEN MEDIA

Pleasanton, CA driver, Nathan Washam, and his Nathan Washam Racing team are excited and eager to kick off what will be a very action packed 2014 season for the soon-to-be 17-year-old pilot.

“I am very thankful for everyone that works hard to let me do what I love, and that is race a sprint car,” Washam said. “We have had some great people support us over the years, and in 2014 we are excited to add to that great list of marketing partners.”

After cutting his teeth in quarter midgets, and karts, Washam moved into the non-wing spec-sprint ranks at the Ocean Speedway in 2012, and during the 2013 season, his team purchased a 360ci engine, and put wings on their machine and began competing with the Ocean Sprints presented by Taco Bravo at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville, CA.

“2013 was an interesting year,” he explained. “It was awesome getting into the winged series, and there was a learning curve, but I feel like we got better each night.”

Fast-Forward to the 2014 season, and Washam and his team will continue to compete full-time with the Ocean Sprints Presented by Taco Bravo, but will expand their schedule, also competing with the Civil War Series Presented by Flowmaster at times , and the young driver will also get his first taste of 410ci racing as they will hit races with the King of the West Series.

“I am extremely excited to be given the chance to accomplish my dream of racing a 410 sprint car, while racing against many of my childhood heroes,” he said.  ‘There really isn’t a better group of 410 guys to start with and learn from, and I cannot wait to learn as much as possible competing with them.”

Though he is eager to learn in the 410ci, Washam has also set some goals for himself in what will be his second season aboard a 360ci winged car.

“This season I am really looking to win my first winged sprint car race,” he said. “I would like to be consistently in the top-five with the Ocean Sprints and Civil War Sprints, and when we do race 410ci events, I hope I can make the feature event, and as we progress, start focusing on finishing inside the top-10.”

With both the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster and the King of the West Series traveling across the state of California, Washam is excited to hit some new tracks, and compete in front of new fan bases.

“I think the only way to get better is to race on a ton of different surfaces, and in 2014 we will be all over, and I could not be more excited, or more thankful for this opportunity,” he added.
