Jac Haudenschild and his Destiny Motorsports team fought hard all week long at the East Bay Raceway Park, and when the checkered flag flew on the three day event Saturday night, the Wooster, OH crossed the stripe in the seventh spot, after the starting the 40-lap feature event in the 18th spot.
“We had a rough start to the week, but the boys worked hard, and we had a racy car on Saturday night,” Haudenschild said.
Kicking the weekend off on Thursday night, Haudenschild lined his MonDak Portables/Benic Enterprises/Rick Rogers Construction machine up in the seventh spot. On a track that was getting more slick lap after lap, “The Wild Child” was able to work his way forward and gain three spots, as he finished the heat in the fourth spot.
After passing points were tallied, Haudenschild snuck in the feature event as he sat 13th in points, with only the top-14 locking in.
When the green flag dropped on the 25-lap preliminary night feature, the track took rubber very early, and Haudenschild wasn’t able to do much as he wound up finishing in the 15th spot.
Returning to action on Friday night, Haudenschild lined his Renegade Rentals/Triple X Race Components/Champion Lubricants machine up in the third row of his heat race, and a fourth place finish, forced the No. 9w machine into the B main.
Taking advantage of his front row starting spot in the B, Haudenschild ran second in the B, transferred to the feature event, where he lined up in the 18th position.
When the feature event went green, ‘The Wild Child’ lived up to his name as he went to the top side of the speedway for the first few laps rapidly picking up positions, until he was forced to drop down back into the rubber.
Haud’s early moves proved key as he finished the race with a ninth place finish, and sat ninth in event points heading into the finale on Saturday night.
Lining up on the pole of his heat, and needing the win to transfer into the feature event, Haudenschild lost the drag race to Jason Sides on the greasy track, and finished in the second spot, putting him on the front row of the night’s first B main.
Finishing second in the B, Haudenschild transferred to the 40-lap feature event, and had his work cut out for him, as he lined up in the ninth row.
As the green flag dropped, Haudenschild gained a couple of positions before the red-flag waived on the second lap.
Back underway, Haudenschild began his charge to the front as he was able to get up into the 10th spot before another caution waived at the halfway point.
The final few laps, saw Haudenschild mash around the turn three and four fence to gain a few more spots, as he ended his weekend with a seventh place finish.
“Everyone worked hard on our car all week long, and we were able to race pretty well on Friday and Saturday night in the features,”” he said. “We would have liked to be up a few more spots, but we will take what we learned and move on.”
