Mesquite, TX — (March 25, 2014) — Josh Baughman and his Jason Johnson Racing team are mourning the recent loss of crew member Patrick Silva, who passed away suddenly on Monday.
“He was a great guy; a great friend,” Baughman said. “I never had to worry about anything with Patrick. He’s definitely going to be missed. I hope everyone will keep Patrick’s family in their prayers.”
Silva joined the team earlier this season and helped Baughman propel the car into the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour main event at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last Friday. After advancing from fifth to third place in his heat race, Baughman ended 18th in the main event.
Baughman said the team is scheduled to compete this Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, which will host the conclusion of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader after last Saturday’s event was postponed a week because of the threat of weather.
“I think what Patrick would want us to do is to go racing,” he said. “It is with a heavy heart that we will continue to compete, but we know that Patrick will be riding with us every time the car hits the track. We’re going to race for him and try to get him in the Winner’s Circle.”
