Collinsville, OK — (April 1, 2014) — Tyler Thomas returns to competition this weekend with a POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series doubleheader in Illinois.
Thomas will pilot a midget for Hans Lein at Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln on Friday and at Macon Speedway in Macon on Saturday.
“Lincoln and Macon are two of my best tracks,” Thomas said. “I’ve raced for the win at Lincoln and Macon multiple times. They are both always racy and we always seem to have a really good car at those tracks.”
Thomas scored a POWRi victory at Macon Speedway in 2012 and he nearly captured a win at Lincoln Speedway that year.
“During my first race there in 2012 a battery cable broke while I was leading with eight laps to go,” he said. “Lincoln is pretty flat and the shape of it really isn’t like any other track we go to. We always seem to run pretty well there.
“Macon is similar to what I grew up racing micros on at Port City Raceway. It’s a little bullring. I always have a blast and enjoy racing there.”
The objective of the weekend is consistency.
“Of course I’d like to win, but I’d be pretty happy with a top five,” he said. “I want to finish the races. As long as we finish, I know we’ll have a car that can finish up front.”
