The much anticipated 2014 Rislone URC Sprint Series continues to gain momentum and some big news this week includes the announcement from eighteen year old Brad Franks of Collegeville, PA, that he will be joining several other rookie drivers on the URC driver roster. “I’m looking forward to race with URC because of the many different tracks where URC competes and the club atmosphere that exists”, said Franks. A diesel heavy equipment mechanic by trade, Franks goal for the coming season is to get as much seat time as possible. “The schedule, purse and double-file restarts are what attracted me to URC”, commented Franks.
Brad Franks will drive the TF Motorsports 12B that will carry sponsorship from Trans-Fleet Concrete, 5 Star Concrete Pumping and West Fabrication. Joining Franks on the URC rookie roster is Wes Irwin of Lebanon, PA, Chris Glandon of Milford, DE and Tony Fiore of Manheim, PA.
A new attraction for URC in the coming season that is sure to add fun for the fans and competitors alike is the URC 2014 Fantasy League. The 2014 Rislone URC Sprint Series will open with two non-point race events, first on Friday night, April 11 at the Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, NC followed by a Saturday night, April 12 event at the Lancaster Speedway in Lancaster, SC. URC’s official season opener will take place on Saturday night, April 19 with the first of six events at the Selinsgrove Speedway, this show will be the first point race of 2014 for URC.
A host of special events are part of the Rislone URC Sprint Series including the Jack Gunn Memorial at the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night, May 10 paying $3,500 to the winner. On Saturday night, May 17 the Delaware International Speedway will host the Kramer Williamson Memorial with an additional $4,000 in prize money posted by a long list of sponsors. Each feature position will pay an additional $73 in memory of Kramer Williamson and, the eighth place finisher will pick up an additional $108 in memory of URC’s Midge Miller. Each feature lap will pay the race leader $73 and lap eight will pay $108 to the race leader. The halfway, lap 13 race leader will earn $528. Heats, the “B” Main, Fast Time and Hard Charger will also earn an additional $73. In additional, a paid provisional will be added to the starting field.

Other special events include the Twin features night at Grandview Speedway on Sunday, May 25, URC will join USAC in a double-header wing and non-wing show at the Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday, June 4, an event sponsored by MACH 1 Chassis. Friday night, August 1 will be the $4,000 to win Rislone Nationals at Williams Grove followed by the Kramer Cup at the Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night, August 9. The “Big Daddy” event for URC is Saturday night, September 27 with the MACH 1 Chassis $8,000 to win event at the Selinsgrove Speedway.
Eight time URC Champion Curt Michael of Ocean View, DE, driving for car owner Bill Gallagher, will be chasing title number nine as Josh Weller and defending URC Owner Champion Ken Eldreth have joined forces to chase their first championship as a team. Other 2014 title contenders include Davie Franek, Ed Aikin, Robbie Stillwaggon, Brian Carber, Chad Trout, Kevin Darling, Eric Riggins, and Randy West just to name a few.
