Young Looking for Mel Kenyon Midget Series Wins

By Eric Bunn

(Lebanon, IN)  For the first time in several years 2012 Mel Kenyon Midget Series Champion Travis Young went winless during the 2013 USSA Midget campaign.ussa

That, Young says, is going to change in 2014.  “I will be going for wins this year!”  Not that it will be easy, “with the returning group and the newcomers, I think it will be very competitive and interesting season,” Young explained.

Young plans to race for those wins in the first half of the 2014 Mel Kenyon Midget Series season, before the STARS season opens and he begins to focus on his full midget at Grundy County Speedway, running selected USSA races during the remainder of the season.

Young is excited about the new pavement at the Ivy Tech Community College Indianapolis Speedrome.  “I’m ready to get the season started at the Speedrome and very intrigued on how the new pavement will improve the racing there.”  Young went on to say, “I don’t think the new pavement will change the Speedrome’s personality but I do think it should add some speed and improve the grip.”

Young is also welcoming new sponsors for his 2014 racing efforts.  Join his long time primary sponsor 3 Wide Life, will be Big T Auto Parts and Indiana’s Finest Wrecker.  BG Products will also be returning fo the current season.

Designed to be an affordable racing series, the Mel Kenyon Midget Series is for open wheel racers on a budget, drivers looking for open wheel racing experience and competitors whose goal is to have fun in a competitive series that keeps the travel reasonable. Bryan Clauson, Justin Allgaier, Dakota Armstrong, Bobby East, Chris Windom, Jacob Wilson and many more have raced Kenyon Midgets during their careers.
