Statler Charges To 10th At Placerville

When it comes to familiar Winged Sprint Cars in California over the last 20-years there aren't many that are more famous than the two pictured here. Jason Statler will bring the DF Rios 00 into Antioch just 12-markers back of Peter Murphy for fifth in the KWS standings & Brent Kaeding brings the Al's Roofing Supply 69 into Antioch only nine-points behind Statler for sixth. – Recovering from a poor qualifying effort, Grass Valley, CA driver, Jason Statler, bobbed and weaved his way forward at the tight confines of Placerville Speedway to capture a 10th place finish with the King of the West Series.

“We turned an absolutely horrible start to our night into a decent finish so we are definitely happy with that,” Statler said.

Getting into the fence during qualifying time-trials, ‘The Big Guy’ ended up 17th fastest, just narrowly missing the qualifying inversion, and putting him in a hole all night long.

On a very slimy track in heat race action, Statler could only get into the fifth spot, forcing him to get through the Last Chance Qualifier, where he would start and finish fifth, putting him in the 11th row for the 30-lap feature event.

In heavy traffic, Statler’s DF Rios Motorsports/Riley Collins Auto Body/Amerikote entry was stout, as he fought through heavy traffic as he raced his way forward.

With several stoppages slowing the pace, Statler was able to take advantage of the double-file restart as he always seemed to gain a couple of positions.

Late in the race, Statler came to a stop, and lost very important track position, but he seemed to have a car that was very good in shorter runs, and was able to bounce back, and finish his night with a 10th place run.

“The boys worked their you know what’s off all night, and the driver finally got going in the feature,” he said. “We have had great speed, and hopefully we can put a whole night together with no issues and win one of these.”

Jason Statler would like to thank DF Rios Motorsports, Amerikote, Riley Collins Auto Body, SCI, Kaeding Performance, Yak Graphics, Factory Kahne Shocks, Ultra Shield, Rod End Supply, Santomauro, Stephanie’s Custom Interior, and Nevada City Auto Service for their continued support.

ON TAP: Jason and his team will take a week off before heading to Chico, CA on May 2nd and 3rd.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-6, Wins-0, Top-5’s-1, Top-10’s-3
