Midwest, Western dirt and pavement and Washington events are on tap this week for USAC’s HPD Midget series. The Midwest series visits Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway Friday, while Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma hosts Saturday’s Washington race. Out West, the dirt series competes Friday at Plaza Park Raceway in Visalia and the pavement cars compete Saturday at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Notor Speedway.
Scott Hunter of Wald Lake, Mich. extended his USAC Eastern HPD Midget point lead Friday night, winning the 30-lap feature at Ace Speedway. He took the lead on lap 27 and led the final four laps to beat Blaine Leydig, Calvin Carroll, Nolan Allison and Nikki Carroll. Saturday’s race at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Va. was rained out. The next Eastern event is May 31 at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C.
Rain also claimed Saturday’s race at Elma, Washington where the 2014 Washington series now opens this Saturday.
