– Amidst a very strong 2014 campaign with the World of Outlaws, Kerry Madsen closed his week out with a third place run on Saturday night at the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN after picking up finishes of sixth and seventh place earlier in the week.
“We struggled a littler early on Saturday, but once I got a line figured out, we were actually pretty good and landed on the podium,” he said.
Timing in ninth fastest, Madsen fell to a fifth place finish in heat race action, putting him in the sixth row for the feature event.
Getting off to a admittedly slow start, Madsen got moving in the later stages of the event aboard his Keneric Racing/American Racing entry. Using several slid jobs, and a late restart, Madsen surged to a third place finish.
“I think we had something for Steve Kinser in second, but if something would have went wrong, I would have probably had a mob after me in the pits, so we will take third and move on.”
Starting his week off on Wednesday night in Jacksonville, IL Madsen timed in third fastest, and ran second in his heat.
Starting 10th in the main event on the extremely racy track, Madsen was able to pick up a few spots in the early goings before the track began to take rubber.
Getting up to sixth, Madsen would battle with Cody Darrah, but as rubber began being laid on the speedway, passing began to cease, and Madsen settled for sixth.
Wilmot, WI on Friday night saw ‘The Mad Man’ timed in 10th fastest, and a second place run in heat race action put him in the seventh row.
Madsen had a very strong run in the feature as he was able to work his way forward from the drop of the green flag.
With his elbows up, Madsen climbed to the seventh spot, earning him KSE Hard Charger honors for his effort.
“All in all it was a good week for us,” he said. “The guys are working hard, and giving me a fast racecar, now hopefully we can head to the East Coast and stay fast and hopefully bring another win home.”
