Mel Kenyon Midget Series grads challenge the 66th Pay Less Little 500

By Eric Bunn
(Lebanon, IN) When the Mel Kenyon Midget Series drivers take the green flag on Wednesday May 21 at Anderson Speedway, will the fans be seeing the stars of the 71st Pay Less Little 500?  If history is any indicator, the answer to that question is yes.

There are five former winners in the Mel Kenyon Midget Series entered in the 66th Pay Less Little 500, including two drivers who claimed Little 500 wins – Chris Windom and Jacob Wilson.

Wilson and Windom will be joined by Bobby East, Bryan Clauson and Kyle Hamilton when qualifying begins on Anderson’s high banks Thursday May 22.

Windom garnered his Pay Less Little 500 in 2011 while Wilson earned his win in 2013 in one of the closest Little 500’s on record.  Wilson was the 1st of five cars on the lead lap to cross the stripe finishing 500 hard fought laps.

Kyle Hamilton is the only Little 500 rookie in this group of drivers.  Hamilton qualified 2nd and finished 5th in the 2014 Glen Niebel Classic 100-lap event, getting a feel for one fifth the distance of the Little 500.

Bobby East will be driving the #5 Klatt Enterprises Beast.  East is always fast and sure to be a fan favorite.  Bryan Clauson will take the seat in the #69 Hoffman Auto Racing entry.  The Hoffman car is making its return to the Pay Less Little 500 after several years away.

All the excitement of the 66th Pay Less Little 500 at Anderson Speedway begins with Pole Qualifying on Thursday May 22, followed by bump day on Friday May 23 and the 66th Pay Less Little 500 on Saturday May 24.  For complete event information please visit www.andersonspeedway.com and click on “Little 500”.
