Colorado and Kansas URSS Both in Action This Weekend

Another busy weekend awaits both the Kansas and Colorado regions of the URSS as they will visit 3 tracks in 3 states on Friday and Saturday.

Friday night the action will kick off for the Kansas Region as they make their second visit this year at the ¼ mile high bank clay oval at the Red Willow Co. Raceway in McCook Ne. Colorado’s Jake Bubak will make another haul from his home state to try and defend his previous win on May 17th after a race long battle with Green River Wy’s Zac Taylor. Taylor will also make the trip and both will be met by current points leader Zach Blurton from Jetmore Ks. Hometown favorites Darren and Nate Berry along with McCooks Greg Reiners will be waiting to take on the traveling Rebels. Races for Fridays action kicks off at 8pm to allow for teams to make the trip.

Saturday gets hot and heavy as the Colorado region makes their 3rd visit to the tight “D” shaped oval at El Paso County Speedway in Calhan Co and the Kansas region makes their first appearance this year at the 3/8 mile oval at RPM Speedway in Hays Ks.

The action starts at 5pm in Calhan as the Rebels will look for possibly their third different winner in as many outings in Calhan. Coby Pierce who took the opening night checkers and John Jacobs, who won the second outing will return and try to repeat their previous performances. They will be met with a host of formidable opponents as veterans Mark Walinder, Patrick Bourke and Nick Haygood will look to make it three winners in URSS Colorado action. Rookie’s Joie Schmidt and Nic Sutton will also try to put their name it the winner circle for the first time with the Rebels.

Also on Saturday night the Kansas region will start their program at 7pm in Hays. This will be the first of 4 nights this year at RPM Speedway. Last years winner at the only appearance the Rebels made was Darren Bowman from Kinsley KS. Last years winner in LaCrosse, Great Bends Jared Kern who run second to Bowman last year will be looking to move up one spot this weekend. Rick Salem will make his third appearance this year in the Sgt. Christopher Kruse 911 car. Salem, who led 20 of the 25 laps earlier this season in Wakeeney will also look to improve on his previous performance as heavy hitters Zach Blurton, Jake Bubak, Brian Herbert, Luke Cranston, Ray Seemann and many more will battle for the win. Hays always draws a great field of cars and this looks to be no exception.
