Port Royal – Port Royal Speedway will present the 2014 Living Legends Dream Race on Saturday, August 2 at 7:30 pm, honoring veteran sprint car driver and Port Royal ace Lance Dewease and car owner Maynard Boop with tens-of-thousands of dollars in purse money and contingency cash and prizes up for grabs.
The 35-lap Living Legends A Main itself will pay out over $30,000 in purse money alone for the third year in a row with a pair of 16-lap semi-features offering full payouts worth nearly $10,000 each.
In total, the night’s purse money alone eclipses $50,000 and with thousands of additional money pumped into the show via contingency prizes and cash, the total take on the night for sprint car drivers is already approaching $60,000.
Dewease of Fayetteville is a 96-time winner at Port Royal Speedway, outranked by only one other driver on the oval all-time sprint car win list.
Dewease owns a total of six career Port Royal track titles having taken laurels in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997 and in 2000.
Boop of Mifflinburg was teamed with several drivers during his sponsorship and ownership tenure spanning the years from the late 1970s into the early 1980s.
Most prolific of his pilots was Lynn Paxton but also experiencing success in the Boops Aluminum Special No. 1 seat over the years was Kramer Williamson and Gary Howsare among others.
The Living Legends Dream Race event will again see special pre-race activities held behind the grandstand with details to be released regarding autograph sessions and a special silent auction that will benefit the drivers competing in the event.
Time trials will set the starting lineups for the 16-lap twin semi-features that will each pay a minimum of $2,000 to win as well as the 35-lap Dream A Main that will pay a minimum of $10,000 to the winner.
Additional news and information about this prolific Port Royal event on August 2 will be released in the coming days and weeks.
