Atlanta, GA – July 8, 2014 – The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars invades Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia on Thursday night (July 17th) at 7:30 pm for an event entitled the “THURSDAY THRILLER” speed spectacular. The event was previously scheduled on  June 13th but was rained out just prior to the driver’s meeting. The newly re-modeled track has been a USCS driver and fan favorite over the past 18 seasons and was on the series original schedule on July 4, 1997.

The series last visited Lavonia Speedway last season on the same Father’s Day weekend when 2013 USCS National Champion, Derek Hagar was the first to reach the finish line and parked his mount in the USCS Victory Lane after the USCS main event. Hagar is among the expected entries for Friday night’s event. Hagar currently leads the USCS 2014 win list with 6 wins this season.


Also entered is the current USCS National point’s leader and ten-time series Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who is also a previous winner at Lavonia Speedway. Additionally entered is Gray’s team-mate and the top ranked female sprint car racer Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee who is currently in second position in the USCS National point standings. Gray and Turpen both have wins already this season in USCS series competition. Gray has over 80 USCS feature wins on his resume. Turpen who was the 2010 USCS Rookie of the Year, has a career USCS total of 5 feature wins.


Other expected potent USCS sprint car driver entries include two-time 2014 feature winner Johnny Bridges from Cherryville, North Carolina and five-time USCS feature winner, 19 year-old young gun Eric Riggins, Jr.  from Charlotte, North Carolina. Additionally April 12, 2014 USCS feature winner, Lance Moss also from Cherryville, North Carolina is entered.  These six drivers lead a strong contingent of drivers from at least seven states into Friday’s speed contest at the famed Northeast Georgia oval looking for a chance to park in the USCS Victory Lane..


In addition to the 130 mile per hour USCS winged sprint cars the USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints are on the USCS double-header racing card. The mini sprints will also reach speeds of over 100 miles per hour on Lavonia Speedway’s straight-aways. Joining  the USCS sprint cars at Lavonia Speedway on Friday night’s busy racing card will be the Fastrak Pro Late Models, Hobby, Stock Four, Modified Street and Rookie/Beginner Four Cylinders.


The “THURSDAY THRILLER” is part of a three-night, three-track USCS north Georgia triple-header for the USCS sprint cars and mini sprints. On Friday night thre series moves on to Boyds Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia ( ) for Sprint Car Wars IV and completes the weekend at famed Dixie Speedwy in Woodstock, Georgia for the Dixie Sprint Car Nationals 2014 ( ) .
