$2,500 Top Prize Up for Grabs in Patriot Sprint Tour Event Saturday at Woodhull

ROCHESTER, NY, (July 21, 2014)- After a six week hiatus for many race teams, the second half of the Patriot Sprint Tour America Season is set to get underway.

The Patriot Sprint Tour returns to the highbanks of the Woodhull Raceway this Saturday for the ninth PST America event of 2014. The season lidlifter was at the tight 1/3-mile oval back in May but this time around, $2,500 will go to the winner of the 25-lap event. This will be the only race of the weekend after the new management at Clinton County was forced to cancel the Friday Night stop. In addition, for the fourth year in a row, competitors with 305 engines will once again be racing for $1,000 in bonuses, including $300 for the highest finisher.

Back in May, Chuck Hebing put on a clinic, driving away from the field to score his sixth career win at Ted White’s facility. “Cobra” will be back this Saturday to pull off the season sweep, which interestingly he has never done, despite all of his success at the track.

Current series point leader and defending champion Jared Zimbardi has been on a tear this year, but if there is one track that has always had his number, it is the Woodhull Raceway. Zimbardi was able to scrap together a top 10 in May but it will be interesting how “The Juice” fairs this weekend.

This will be the first PST America event for local favorite Steve Collins since his win in weekly action at Ohsweken. Collins won a dash in his first race at Woodhull back in 2011 and had a top five going earlier this year until a final lap crash relegated him back to eighth. Fellow series regular Brad Knab was one of the drivers who benefited from the final lap incident and drove up to fifth and thus is looking forward to his first race in a month and a half. Dave and Scott Just have also used the break to regroup and look forward to a return to action, particularly Scott, who was inside the top five in May until a late-race mechanical failure knocked him out.

Tour mainstays Tyler Graves, Clint Ide, Derek Jonathan, Dane Lorenc, Scott Kreutter, Parker Evans, Joe Trenca, Stephen Hutchinson Jr. and Paul Habeck are expected to compete, as are Jamie Bodo, Tracy Potter and George Suprick, who each ran finished up front in May.

With the top five finishing 305 sprints all taking a share of the bonuses offered, a number of teams are expected to mix things up. Darryl and Alysha Ruggles, Steve and Will Glover, Jonathan and Chris Preston, Josh Azzi, Kelly Hebing and Dan Kuhn are just some of the names that could try their hand at the highbanks this Saturday.
