(Lebanon, IN) Chris Neuenschwander’s win in the Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW race at Angola Motorsport Speedway on Saturday July 26 marked the New Haven IN driver’s 1st win in USSA Racing and his 1st in a non-wing sprint car. Neuenschwander also established the USSA Sprint car track record in qualifying with his 13.609 second lap at 99.199 mph.
Rookie Chance Rice jumped right to the point from the pole position. Neuenschwander, Donnie Adam’s Jr and rookie Jason Fuller set out to run down Rice. Neuenschwander soon established himself in the 2nd spot, with Fuller in 3rd and Adams in 4th.
The race’s only yellow came out on lap 3 closing the field back up for the restart. Neuenschwander, Fuller and Adams kept the pressure on Rice and each other for the next 39 laps. Neuenschwander finally powered his way past Rice in his Ron Koehler Beast entering turn 1 on lap 42, leaving Rice to fend off Fuller and Adams with fading brakes and an overheating engine.
Matt Goodnight rounded out the top 5 with a solid drive in his second USSA Sprint Car Challenge Series Built by the UAW event.
