Fresh from his spectacular “Belleville Midget Nationals” championship, Rico Abreu looks forward to Sunday night’s Honda USAC National Midget race at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc.
Abreu’s teammate, Christopher Bell, swept last month’s “Pepsi Nationals” races at the Wisconsin oval, which is home to the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame, but it’s been Abreu who has produced a stunning 2014 resume.
Only once in 12 starts has Abreu missed the podium! His Belleville triumph was his fourth of the season to go with three seconds and four thirds. His only miss was a fifth at Beloit, Kans.
The result has left Abreu holding a commanding 111-point lead in the National standings entering Sunday’s race. Bell ranks third, 24 behind Hines.
