An additional twelve competitors and all twenty-two starting positions for the Championship final will be decided during an afternoon qualifying session on that race day (Friday, August 29, 2014).

The USCS Sprint Car Shootout format on August 29, 2014 will see the United Sprint Car Series winged sprint car competitors contest a practice session that will be followed by a qualifying session on Friday (August 29th) from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This three hour time frame will allow for two rounds of practice for each competitor followed by time trials and a series of qualifying races to determine the final starting order for the 50-lap USCS Sprint Car Shootout finale.
The preliminary interest from sprint car competitors has been extremely high for the Atlanta Motor Speedway USCS event. A field of top winged sprint car drivers from across the nation (8-10 states) are expected for the second appearance of the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters sprint cars at Atlanta Motor Speedway. California pavement hot-shoe JoJo Helberg won the 2013 inaugural event.
The United Sprint Car Series is the only winged sprint car series in the World that contests it’s Championship on both dirt and paved ovals. At 1,300 pounds and over 700 horsepower, winged sprint cars are pound for pound the World’s fastest and most powerful short-track cars. The USCS winged sprint cars are expected to reach speeds of approximately one hundred miles per hour (100 m.p.h.) around the quarter mile AMS “Thunder Ring.”
