Kyle Hirst and Roth Motorsports have been a potent combo over the last 2 ½ years, and on Sunday night, Hirst and company celebrated their second consecutive King of the West crown.
“It is great for this entire team to capture another championship,” Hirst said. “We did not have the night tonight that we had hoped for, but it’s a testament to how strong this team is that we can have a night like that and still win this deal.”
Timing in 12th fastest, Hirst’s night became eventful as issues in his heat race caused his Roth Motorsports team to change power plants before the B Main event, and Hirst was able to win the B, but the last few laps something mechanically was still off.
“The boys worked so hard all night, and I can’t thank them enough for all of their efforts,” he said. “it was a cold night, and everyone on our team had their sleeves rolled up and sweat was pouring down.”
Thinking the problem was fixed, Hirst made the call for the feature event, but again something was off, and he went to the work area. Though he restarted, Hirst would soon pull back off, but the body of work he put together with the series was still good enough to get him the title.
“There was a huge crowd on a Sunday night, which was awesome to see, and it made it a little disappointing we had bad luck, but those nights will happen,” he added. “I also need to thank Dennis and Teresa Roth for supporting me, and letting me be a part of this team. I am looking forward to trying to get another one of these in 2015.”
Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
