After a strong 2014 season in the United States, Jonathan Allard made the trip back to New Zealand, and opened his season in victory lane, as he scored his 13th overall win of 2014 at the WXC Speedway on November 8th, 2014.
With new clay being brought in during the off season, the Chico, CA transplant took a liking to it early, as he charged his Porter Group/Hydraulink/Motul backed No. 0 machine from the fourth row to finish second in his first heat race.
In the second round of heat race action, the 2014 Gold Cup Race of Champions winner picked up the win from his front row starting position, giving him high point honors on the night.
With the four-car inversion in place, Allard lined his Exide/NZCDS/BDR Max entry up in the second row for the 20-lap feature event.
As the green flag dropped, it was Jamie Duff jumping out to the early lead, but Allard was quick to jump into the second spot, as he chased after the early race leader, as he put his machine on the ragged edge.
Riding in the second spot for eight markers, Allard made his move getting into turn three on the eighth lap as he snuck around Duff, to take the lead, which he would never relinquish.
Over the last half of the race, Dean Brindle and Duff looked to challenge Allard, but he was too good on this night, and took home the opening night win.
“There is nothing better than getting the opening night win, “ Allard said. “We had a great car that worked anywhere on the track, and it let me do what I needed to do to get the lead. I have to thank my team for their efforts, and of course all of our partners for making this all possible.
Allard would like to thank Porter Group, Hydraulink, Motul, New Zealand Ceiling and Drywall Supplies, Exide, and BDR Max for their support.
2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-63, Wins-13, Top 5’s-30, Top 10’s-42.
ON TAP: Allard will be back in action on Saturday night at WXC Speedway.
