Odessa, TX — (December 8, 2014) — Josh Baughman has big plans for the 2015 season.
Baughman has rented a shop in Tulsa, Okla., where he will be centrally located to compete full time with ASCS. He anticipates a schedule of 50-to-60 races with the ASCS Gulf South and ASCS Red River Regions along with select Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events. Baughman will also take more trips to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, next season.
“We took a big step forward in 2014 thanks in large part to Jason Johnson and his program,” he said. “We won’t be teammates with Jason next year, but he’s still a great friend and a mentor. I’m excited to use the momentum from 2014 to tackle a full-time schedule next year. The best way to improve as a driver is to consistently test yourself against the best drivers.”
Baughman competed on a limited basis with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour in 2014 when he registered a pair of top 10s and a 12th place finish in the championship standings – the second highest of any driver who didn’t compete full time.
He also scored a pair of regional victories – July 12 at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas, and Aug. 16 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.
“I’ve got Wayne Priddy returning to be my crew chief next year,” he said. “It was a big positive that we were able to win twice last year. We grew a lot throughout the 2014 season and I think our team will continue to move forward in 2015.”
Baughman is scheduled to kick off the year Jan. 13-17 at the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, Okla., for the 29th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals. He will then start the sprint car season in February with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“The team is working hard to build new Maxim cars and Chris at Moss Racing Engines is getting everything tuned up,” he said. “We have high expectations to do well next season and I’m looking forward to taking all of our sponsors to Victory Lane.”
