The Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring hosts a March 21 USAC HPD Western Midget race and it might again be “ladies night” after the 1-2 “sweep” posted by the Breidinger sisters in last Saturday’s 30-lap feature at Blythe, Calif.
Toni and Annie Breidinger of Hillsborough, Calif. recorded only the fourth 1-2 female finish in USAC history, with Toni leading all 30 laps at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway. They were trailed by series point leader Dylan Nobile, Jesse Love and Joel Rayborne. Annie Breidinger was also the night’s fastest qualifier.
Nobile emerged from the race as the new series point leader, 14 points ahead of Annie and 18 ahead of Toni in the latest standings.
The only previous 1-2 female “sweeps” occurred in 2005 and 2008. Julia Landauer and Alison MacLeod were 1-2 in a July 16 Indiana Ford Focus feature at New Castle, Ind., while Audra Sasselli and Jenna Frazier were 1-2 in a September 11 California Ford Focus race at Stockton, Calif.
Stephanie Mockler, Alison MacLeod and Erica Santos recorded a unique “sweep” of the podium with their 1-2-3 finish in the August 3, 2005 Speedrome Midget feature in Indianapolis, Ind.
