USAC’s Western HPD Midgets take to the one-third mile paved Madera (Calif.) Speedway Saturday in the “Pombo/Sargent Classic”.
Point leader Dylan Nobile of Clovis, Calif. won Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring. He passed Cody Jessop on lap five and led the rest of the way to beat Jessop, Toni Breidinger, Dezel West and fast qualifier Jeff Kelley. That left him with a 23-point lead over Breidinger in the new series standings going into Saturday’s Madera race.
Nobile won four times at Madera last year, while Breidinger earned her first series win at Madera in 2014.
The USAC Eastern HPD Midgets resume action April 3 at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C. after Chris Lamb opened the 2015 season with a 35-lap victory last Saturday at Williamston, S.C. Lamb led all but the first four laps to beat Jake Nelke, Jessica Bean, Scott Hunter and Andrew Layser. Nelke led the first four laps.
