Morris, IL — (May 13, 2015) — The Short Track Auto Racing Series (STARS) will bring five divisions to Grundy County Speedway this year for 10 events. The Series will be led by The D’Arcy GMC National Midgets. The other four divisions include the STARS Classic Modifieds (Dwarf), Illini Racing Series Sportsman Midgets (IRS), CSR Super Cups, and Legacy Midwest Racing Series. The CSR Super Cups and The Illini Racing Series Sportsman Midgets will only compete at 9 of the 10 events.
The STARS season opener will be May 30th and will honor the late Patrick Wilda Jr., who lost his life in an industrial accident in January. The 2015 season concludes September 26th. The entire 2015 STARS season schedule can be found on the STARS website, www.shorttrackauto.com, where one can see what divisions will race at each event.
There is a key change to the season this year with early start times. The pits will open at 2:00 pm and the front gate at 4:30 pm. This will allow for the first races to begin at 6:00 pm. These times will allow for more families to enjoy great racing without spending the whole night at the speedway. The pits will open 1 hour earlier, 1:00 pm, for the season opener on May 30th. So be sure to come out and see who will follow in defending D’Arcy GMC National Midget champion Austin Prock’s tracks and win the season opener.
The cost to watch some great racing will be family friendly as well. Adult tickets cost $12, children tickets (age 5 to 12) cost $2, and children 4 and under are free. There is also no charge for parking.
STARS is all about creating memories for race fans. They do this for children 12 years of age and younger with the Fandemonium Kids Club. This club has annual dues of just $20. Club children receive a variety of benefits that help start their journey of becoming lifelong racing fans. Benefits also include a free youth size STARS t-shirt and one adult and one youth ticket to any STARS event.
