Huron, SD — (June 10, 2015) — History will be made on Saturday, June 20 as Iverson Huron Presents the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, South Dakota. The winged warriors will do battle at the three-eighths-mile in what will be the series final race in South Dakota this season.
Dakota State Fair Speedway will mark the fifth track in South Dakota that the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series has raced at dating back to 1979. A total of 15 drivers have won A-Feature events with the series in South Dakota, led by three-time series champion Sammy Swindell, who will be in action, as he continues to fill in for the injured Jason Johnson. Swindell has claimed 11 A-Feature wins in the South Dakota during his legendary career.
Donny Schatz, who drives for Tony Stewart Racing, and is the current series point leader, has four wins at two different tracks in South Dakota. The North Dakota native has won 11 races thus far in 2015 to lead the series as he chases his seventh series title.
Two drivers currently competing full-time with the World of Outlaws have raced at Dakota State Fair Speedway in the past, as the track hosted the former Gumout Series in 2002. Shane Stewart, who is currently second in points, finished second in that race, while Jason Sides was fifth.
Other contenders that will be in action on Saturday, June 20 as Iverson Huron Presents the World of Outlaws include Brad Sweet, who drives for Kasey Kahne Racing and is third in points. Kerry Madsen is currently fourth in points, with veteran Joey Saldana rounding out the top-five.
Paul McMahan is sixth in points through June 5, followed by 2013 series champion Daryn Pittman, who drives for Kasey Kahne Racing. David Gravel is currently ninth in the standings, with Kraig Kinser in 10th. Also in action will be the two-car team for Shark Racing, with Logan Schuchart and Jacob Allen behind the wheel.
